The Independent Recruiting Group (IRG) started up in January 2010 with a big goal in mind: To raise the profile of small independent recruitment agencies all over the UK.

Founder and Independent recruiter Sean O'Donoghue says the strategic approach was to support small independent agencies, giving them free access to enhanced resources, and ultimately helping those agencies to offer a better service to their clients and candidates.

"By achieving this, they will be making a big contribution towards helping to 'Get Britain Working!'" says Sean.

Heavily involved in the recruitment sector, OnCore recognised the unique framework and platform being offered by IRG. The structure enables all the agencies within the group to collaborate, communicate, share ideas, share jobs and candidates, learn more, save more money, and go out to the market as being part of something bigger. OnCore was keen to lend a hand.

Says Sean: "Independent recruitment agencies no longer need to fear going up against their large corporate competitors, not when they have the strength and power of The Independent Recruiting Group behind them.

"IRG are also the only trade body within the Recruiting Industry that operates as a Social Enterprise. This means that they work for the best interests of their members, their clients as well as their candidates. Profit doesn’t even come into the vocabulary; and if they have any surplus funds left over at the end of the year, they're not working hard enough to reinvest that money back to where it’s needed the most"
