Australia's Fastest Growing Jobs For 2025

Australia’s Fastest-Growing Jobs for 2025: Emerging Trends and Surprising Roles

Australia’s fastest-growing jobs have been announced with some surprising finalists. Last week, LinkedIn revealed Australia’s booming job roles, with several conventional and unconventional ones making their mark.

This year’s lineup features a mix of expected contenders and a few surprising additions, underscoring the dynamic nature of the country’s labour market.

An impressive 80% of the roles on the list are entirely new, reflecting shifting demands and opportunities. Leading the charge are the education, travel, and hospitality sectors, which are experiencing a strong resurgence as the economy recovers from the pandemic.

“In 2024, technology and engineering roles were dominant, with positions like cyber security analyst, platform engineer, and integration engineer taking centre stage,” said LinkedIn career expert Cayla Dengate.

While technology remains vital, the 2025 shift toward roles in hospitality, travel, and education points to broader economic and societal changes. “This reflects the ongoing recovery from the pandemic and the increasing emphasis on soft skills and lifelong learning,” Dengate explained.

LinkedIn’s 2025 Jobs on the Rise report identifies Australia’s fastest-growing job titles over the past three years, based on millions of positions initiated by LinkedIn members between January 2022 and July 2024.

Key Highlights from the 2025 Jobs on the Rise Report

  • Top Roles: English teachers claimed the top spot, followed by servers, travel agents, and sommeliers. The increase in international students and the revival of the hospitality sector were major factors driving demand for these positions.
  • Growth Drivers: Dengate attributed the rise of these roles to Australia’s evolving workforce needs, highlighting how LinkedIn’s exclusive data uncovers emerging trends and opportunities.
  • Rising Industries: In addition to hospitality and education, prominent roles in technology, healthcare, renewable energy, and customer success remain, reflecting diverse growth areas across the economy.

Insights for Employers

To attract and retain talent in these emerging fields, businesses should:

  • Provide Growth Opportunities: Offer robust training programs and pathways for professional development.
  • Embrace Flexibility: Hybrid and remote work arrangements are increasingly important for top candidates.
  • Foster Inclusivity: Diverse and inclusive teams drive innovation and improve performance.
  • Demonstrate Sustainability: A strong commitment to environmental and social responsibility enhances employer branding.

Guidance for Job Seekers

Professionals looking to excel in 2025 should:

  • Develop AI and Tech Expertise: Invest in certifications and practical experience to stay ahead in technology-driven roles.
  • Specialise: Build skills in high-demand sectors such as healthcare, sustainability, and renewable energy.
  • Prioritise Soft Skills: Focus on communication, empathy, and critical thinking to stand out in people-facing roles.
  • Be Adaptable: Embrace continuous learning and upskilling to thrive in a fast-evolving job market.

The Growing Importance of Soft Skills

According to Dengate, interpersonal skills are becoming increasingly critical in today’s workforce. “Communication, creativity, and decision-making have never been more valuable, as these are skills that AI cannot easily replicate,” she noted.

Roles such as teaching, hospitality, and HR exemplify the demand for people-focused abilities like collaboration, adaptability, and empathy, which are essential for navigating modern workplace environments.

Looking Ahead

The 2025 Jobs on the Rise report provides a snapshot of today’s opportunities and offers a glimpse into the future of Australia’s workforce. Aligning with these emerging trends is essential for long-term success for employers and job seekers alike.

One professional, Martin W., reflected on the list: “It will be fascinating to look back and evaluate how these roles performed against their potential.”
